Dr. Ballard is from Monticello, Ga., where he graduated from Jasper Co.
High School in 1968. He received his BA in psychology from Dartmouth
College,graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. His MD degree
and his Family Medicine training were completed at Duke University. He
is Board Certified in Family Medicine and is a Fellow in the American
Academy of Family Practice.
His three sons were all outstanding athletes and scholars at Elkin High
School and then at Washington and Lee University, Princeton University,
and Wake Forest University respectively.
He lives in Elkin with his wife, Marianne, and enjoys landscaping
(especially rock wall construction), woodworking, and coaching basketball and soccer.
